Our Admissions team will aim to follow our guiding statements, support the expectations of our current global community and embrace families interested in joining our school. We carefully consider several factors including space availability, applicant’s English language ability, previous school records, and sibling relationships. We strive to enroll students who we see will benefit from our instructional model, international school community, and approach to education. When student space is unavailable, applicants will be added to the wait pool.

Applications for 2024 will remain open for the year and there is no specific deadline for submitting the required materials. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis provided spaces are available.

Yoyogi international school charges an application fee of ¥22,000 (including tax).

Please contact us through the inquiry form or via email to check the availability. The school admissions officer will contact you for further arrangements.

Step 3: Pay application fee

Please note that the application fee is non-refundable in any circumstances. Please confirm availability before making the transfer.

Please remit the total amount due in full and refrain from deducting any bank transfer charges from the balance due.

Kindly contact us before transferring the application fee if you have a tax exemption card.

Step 4: Submit application for and required documents

Please submit your application form and upload the required documents online by visiting the "apply" page.

In the case that the School Report is issued in a language other than English, a translated report is required in addition to the original school report.

Applications will not be considered or added to the wait pool until all components are received by the admissions office.

Once all documents have been submitted, the admissions office will contact you to confirm the status of your application.

If the report(s) and reference(s) from the applicant's current school are satisfactory and there is availability in the year group being applied for, applicants may be invited to come in for a screening session to see how best the school can meet the needs of the student. Student screening sessions will be scheduled at the discretion of the school.

Admissions Decisions

When making the decision to enter a child into the school or not, we carefully consider several factors including but not limited to space availability, English language ability, social maturity, previous school records, and sibling relationships. Our academic standard is that students fit within one year of the grade being applied to. The applicant must be performing academically (reports, WIDA, MAP screener) and socially (reports, observations when available) within one grade below or one grade above the grade applied to. This standard reflects the professional resources that the school currently possesses.

Applicants Added to the Wait Pool

Children will not be permitted to remain in the waitpool indefinitely. We will inform parents of enrollment trends and administer admissions whenever a seat becomes available.
The Admissions Office staff will not disclose the number of applicants on the waiting list. In addition, we cannot make predictions about the movement of the waiting list or an applicant's chances of admission.

English Language Ability

Apart from Japanese language lessons, English is the language of instruction. Students with limited English ability will be accepted provided spaces are available, EAL Support is accessible after discussion with the Admissions Team.

Conditional Enrollment
Students who have been identified as English Language Learners, through self-assessment or WIDA Testing results, may be offered conditional enrollment based on full participation in the EAL Program and the related fees.

Learning Diversity

Yoyogi International School endeavors to admit all students seeking a quality education based on global citizenship, building inclusive communities and support for children rights. Our current school resources do not have the facilities or trained specialist staff necessary to support students with some special needs and learning difficulties. Analysis of previous school reports, professional diagnosis, dialogue with parents and subsequent screening will determine if placement is in the best interests of the child. Yoyogi International School will not enroll a child that we do not feel we can support towards their growth potential or what is in the best interest of the child.

Yoyogi International School welcomes neurodiverse students who can be successful in a traditional class setting with one teacher. Students who may need an IEP and/or specialist support may be beyond the current resources of the school. In the interests of the student, we will not enroll anyone that we are unable to serve properly in reaching their potential. Students are generally expected to perform academically within one year of the assigned grade.
