Yoyogi International School was founded in 1999 with the vision of providing the children of the international community in Tokyo with a high-quality early childhood education. The School quickly earned a reputation of providing excellent international education, and proudly became one of the most prestigious early learning centers in Tokyo. Yoyogi International School has since extended its' high-quality, enriching program to primary education.

Children at Yoyogi International School benefit from a truly international education within a diverse community represented by over 25 different nationalities. Our school embraces the needs of every child by providing a warm, secure and nurturing environment where children gain independence, motivation, develop critical thinking skills and integrity that are essential for the global society in the 21st century.

Welcome from School Principal

Welcome to Yoyogi International School. As School Principal, it is my great pleasure to work alongside our exceptional families and faculty, to ensure all our students grow into independent, open-minded individuals with a curiosity in the world around them, and a respect for one another.

At Yoyogi International School, students are nurtured to be courageous in their learning and develop reliance. They are actively encouraged and supported by our highly qualified and experienced teachers, in an engaging learning environment.

In our rapidly changing society, more emphasis must be placed on skills. Students need to question, analyse and apply knowledge to solve problems and take initiative in their own learning. We embed our core value in all we do, encouraging all our students to be curious, confident and compassionate.

I actively advocate the importance of teaching students how to learn. This has helped us to shape our curriculum in a way that supports students to develop their creativity and skills such as problem solving and critical thinking. Placed in the heart of Tokyo our students also benefit from a wide variety of excursions, making links between classroom learning and real-life experiences.

We strive to inspire a compassion, empathy and understanding of others to ensure the students use all that they learn in a positive manner. Our warm and welcoming atmosphere ensures students and families feel valued, cared for, and part of our diverse Yoyogi community.
